Migraines
Migraines are severe headaches that can cause intense throbbing or pulsing pain, often on one side of the head. Along with pain, migraines may also involve symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound, and visual disturbances known as auras. These headaches can last for hours to days and can significantly impact daily activities and quality of life.

Migraines are severe headaches characterized by intense throbbing pain, often on one side of the head. They can be accompanied by symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Migraines may be caused by various factors, including genetic predisposition, hormonal changes, certain foods, stress, and environmental triggers.
Triptans work by constricting blood vessels and blocking pain pathways in the brain, thereby relieving migraine symptoms. They are effective in treating acute migraine attacks and can help alleviate pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound.
Sumatriptan, Almotriptan, Rizatriptan, and Zolmitriptan are all triptans, but they differ in their specific formulations, dosages, and onset of action. Some may be available in oral tablet form, while others come as nasal sprays.
These medications are typically taken as soon as possible after the onset of a migraine attack. They can be taken orally with water or administered as nasal sprays, following the instructions provided by our prescribing team.
Common side effects of triptans may include dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, flushing, tingling sensations, and dry mouth. These side effects are usually mild and temporary.
Triptans may not be suitable for everyone, such as individuals with certain cardiovascular conditions, uncontrolled hypertension, or a history of stroke.
