Brimonidine tartrate (Mirvaso®) is a medication used to address the persistent facial redness associated with rosacea. It works by constricting the blood vessels in the skin. This constriction reduces the flow of blood to the affected area, effectively diminishing redness and flushing.
By targeting the underlying cause of rosacea-related redness, Brimonidine tartrate provides symptomatic relief and improves the appearance of the skin.
Common side effects of Mirvaso® gel may include temporary redness, flushing, or irritation at the application site.
While rosacea flare-ups cannot always be entirely prevented, you can minimise them by identifying and avoiding triggers such as sun exposure, spicy foods, alcohol, and stress. Additionally, following a gentle skincare routine and using sunscreen daily can help manage symptoms and prevent worsening of the condition.
