Metoclopramide is a medication that helps relieve nausea and vomiting by increasing the movement of the stomach and intestines, as well as by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain.
Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, diarrhoea, and restlessness.
It's best to take Metoclopramide 30 minutes before meals to enhance its effectiveness in relieving nausea.
Metoclopramide may start working within 30 minutes to an hour after taking it, but it may take longer for some individuals.
Eat smaller, more frequent meals to avoid overloading your stomach. Opt for bland, easily digestible foods, and stay hydrated throughout the day. Avoid trigger foods, strong odours, and stressful situations, as they can exacerbate nausea. Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing and meditation to reduce stress levels. Additionally, avoid vigorous physical activity immediately after eating and stay upright for a couple of hours post-meal to prevent acid reflux and nausea. Limit alcohol consumption and avoid exposure to smoke and strong smells. These steps can help mitigate the risk of experiencing nausea.
